USS Higbee Reunion Day 1

I have arrived at my first stop, the Vass House in Moreland, IA. I left home this morning about 9a and arrived here about 330p. I traveled 301 miles today. I took route US64 from Oregon Il to Rt 26, thru Freeport to US20 west. Stayed on 20 to here.

When I left Oregon, I felt a drop of rain, then when I was entering Mt Morris, 5 miles from Oregon, it started to rain. So I put my rain Frogg Toggs on, drove out of Mt Morris, no more rain. Took the Toggs off down the road a piece, then about 5 miles before Dike, IA I could see rain in the west. So the Toggs went back on. Didn't drive but maybe 2 miles and the rain came down ( not heavy ). But, I was about 20 miles from Ft Dodge, and the rain started to come down in buckets. I ducked under a bridge and waited out most of it (15-20 minutes). When I drove into Ft Dodge, the sun came out and was nice the rest of the way.

As I drove in the driveway, George came out with his camera, snapping pictures. About 7p, we had a good dinner of ribs, chopped potatoes, carrots, celery, cukes w/ onions, salad and wine.

Tomorrow I will leave about 9a, heading west on Rt 20.
